Bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells transplantation downregulates pancreatic NF-κB and pro-inflammatory cytokine profile in rats with type I and type II-induced diabetes: a comparison study

Abstract Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a set of metabolic diseases defined by persistently high blood sugar level. Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are novel potential therapeutic intervention in treatments various diseases, which also referred to as regenerative medicine. We aimed compare the pro-inflammatory cytokines’ levels during bone marrow mesenchymal (BM-MSCs) transplantation rats with induced type I (T1D) and II diabetes (T2D). Thirty-five male Sprague dawley were divided into: Group I: healthy control group, group II: untreated streptozotocin (STZ)-induced T1D (65 mg/kg), III: BM-MSCs treated STZ-induced T1D, IV: high-fat diet (HFD)/STZ-induced T2D (40 V: BM-MSCs-treated HFD/STZ-induced T2D. Biochemical, histopathological immunohistochemical studies applied. Our results showed that reduced hyperglycemia increased insulin both Also, reductions inflammatory markers noticed after was coincided nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-кB) results; negative or moderate cytoplasmic reactivity groups III V.
